School Counselling Program PDF Print E-mail

This program is a joint initiative of Centacare and the Catholic Education Office that provides on site counselling in primary and secondary schools within the Catholic Schools system. Counsellors address the concerns of parents and teachers with regard to students’ behavioural problems, difficulties with schoolwork and relationship issues with other students.

Centacare psychologists conduct cognitive assessments as part of our comprehensive School Counselling Program that evaluates verbal and non-verbal areas of functioning and how these impact on learning. In addition, Professional Development Seminars were added to provide ongoing education to school staff and administrators to assist them with updating their skills and information about range of emotional, behavioural and cognitive issues and tailored to meet the particular needs of the school. Other information sessions are available to students and parents that cover concerns such as bullying and conflict resolution.
