Sacrament, Spirituality and Putting Out the Bins PDF Print E-mail

This evening is in addition to one of the Partnerships or FOCCUS programs.  The sacrament of marriage is the promise that a couple make to each other not only on their wedding day but also on each day afterwards.  This evening provides an opportunity for couples to explore their individual and couple spirituality, to discuss ways in which they can experience God in their relationship and to develop tools to make their wedding day vows a reality long after their wedding day.

Some ideas to discuss:

  • How do you experience God in your life?
  • Where can you discern God’s signature in your relationship?
  • How do you or do you want to express your individual spirituality?
  • How do you or do you want to express your “couple spirituality?
  • What achievements in your relationship are sources of pride to you?
  • What qualities do you admire in your partner?
  • What does honour mean to you?  How is it expressed in your relationship?

This session is facilitated by Rhyannon and Anthony Elliott.  They married in 2002, have three children and very much enjoy the time spent with couples in the Partnerships and Sacrament and Spirituality Programs.  They have worked with Centacare since 2003 and believe strongly in the work of the Marriage and Relationship Education Unit.

Comments from participants:

  • I am going away with a new question “what are tangible ways for me to honour my partner?”
  • I appreciated the chance to think about what the sacrament of marriage means to us and how to live out the sacrament and get the most out of it
