Centacare Catholic Family Services is an organisation that works on behalf of the Archdiocese in Melbourne to fulfil the Church’s mission of service to the community. We provide programs and services that help families and individuals in the development of strong and healthy relationships, and encourage connectedness within their communities. Inspired by our vision of ‘life to the full’ for families and individuals in all their diversity, we are especially concerned with offering services that ensure improved opportunities for those experiencing disadvantage and hardship in order for them to achieve enhanced living conditions, and a better future for their children. However, for some families things don’t go so well and the celebration of the miracle of birth is coloured by the challenge of having to cope with a disabled child and the inevitable difficulties that lie ahead. by Fr Joe Caddy CEO Centacare Catholic Family Services Published in Herald Sun Tuesday 29th April A TRENDY looking group of 20-somethings gathers on a street in Carlton during a night out. A young man in the group points towards a nearby restaurant, describing in detail the shooting that took place there during Melbourne's recent gangland wars. Thank you for joining with Centacare today as we announce the extension of our settlement and humanitarian entrants program to the south east of Melbourne. We enter into this space with some experience having worked as an organisation for over seventy years in the provision of family services. Those services have changed consistently to meet the changing needs of families especially as they have been reflected in successive generations of migration and settlement from Europe, the Baltic States, Asia, Latin America and Africa. |
